The Times top North West Restaurants

Three local restaurants have made it to the Times Top 100 Best Restaurant’s list for 2017.

The Art School in Liverpool was highly praised. “Service comes with good humour and is an excellent match for sophisticated cooking that doesn’t take itself too seriously”.  The chef in charge, Paul Askew, is a North West Food Champion and is recognised as one of the regions best chefs. Former director of the highly acclaimed Hope Street Hotel and London Carriage Works Restaurant, he is also a member of the Royal Academy of the Culinary Art.  Paul is well known for his passion for local produce and seasonal ingredients. He has been working with his chosen suppliers for many, many years and has therefore established close relationships where excellent quality is guaranteed.

At Fraiche on the Wirral chef-patron Marc Wilkinson impressed with his dedication to fulfilling his vision of what a restaurant should be without compromise. “Wilkinson opened the tiny, ten-seat Fraiche on the Wirral because he could not afford a bigger place across the Mersey in Liverpool and would not compromise for financial backing.”  His style was described as talented modern and Marc explains: “Fraiche is a very personal journey for me, building a modern cuisine on a classical trained foundation to keep my sensibilities in check. My expanding cooking techniques and cutting edge preparations help me to express myself, thus enabling me to offer our guests a complete ‘experience’, taking them on a both a culinary and visual journey. The drive is very much to push Fraiche to higher levels of cuisine for the enjoyment for our guests.” Dinner is a set six-course menu for the whole table to enjoy using the produce available each day.
