THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO FOOD, DRINK AND LIFESTYLE IN THE NORTH WEST AND NORTH WALES
The Church Inn of Mobberley
Church Lane, Mobberley, Knutsford, Cheshire WA16 7RD
The Church Inn of Mobberley is a traditional yet stylish 18th Century country pub located on the edge of the village opposite the 12th Century St. Wilfrids Church. Mobberley is a leafy haven situated between the Cheshire towns of Wilmslow and Knutsford and on a straight country lane from Hale. It is only 8 miles from Manchester Airport and only 15 miles from the city of Manchester yet you are in the heart of some of Cheshire’s most beautiful countryside.
The Church Inn re-opened in June 2013 after being acquired, in a near derelict state, by Tim Bird and Mary McLaughlin. Now fully restored and refurbished we offer great food in an old Country Tavern environment. The pub has a main bar with intimate small dining rooms, there is a ‘boot room’ for a ‘muddy boot’ pint of ale. Upstairs sits the George Mallory room and the Chefs Library both available for private dining and meetings. There’s a pretty summer terrace overlooking St Wilfred’s Church and the famous stocks of Mobberley.
Freshly cooked food is prepared by the team of chefs can be washed down with a choice of ales from within a 15-mile boundary, with one pump dedicated to craft ales from further away. Wine is celebrated here too with a simple yet interesting list.
