Eat it up, and drink it in

There is a host of food and drink events taking place in the Samphire region over the next few months. Here are a few highlights.

Manchester International Festival, 2-3 July and 9-10 July
While the four supper clubs with chef Paul Heathcote and friends as part of Manchester International Festival has sold out, you can check for late availability tickets see @MIFestival However, Albert Square will be a buzzing food venue throughout the festival. Altrincham Market favourites Honest Crust will be setting-up in the square as resident pizza pushers, while Gary Usher's Hispi bistro will also be there for the duration, serving its take on fast food. There'll be joined by Indian street food specialists, Manjit's Kitchen, and festival ice-cream stalwart, Ginger's Comfort Emporium. Entry to Albert Square free.
Foodies Festival, Tatton Park 14-16 July
The UK's biggest celebration of food and drink: Michelin-starred chefs cook live; wine, champagne and cocktail classes; a producer’s market; street food; a BBQ arena; Cake & Bake theatre; eating competitions; live music; pop-up bars; tasting and shopping.
Nantwich Food and Drink Festival, 1-3 September
A packed-programme of entertainment has been planned for the festival including late night opening and marquees housing delicacies from across the globe. The event, billed as ‘the biggest and tastiest food festival in the country’, attracts more than 40,000 visitors each year and it shines the spotlight on Nantwich’s vibrant food scene with traders across town throwing open their doors to stage fun workshops, tastings and family activities.
Beaumaris Food Festival on Anglesey, 2-3 September
Against the backdrop of the 12th century Beaumaris castle, the town green will be dotted with marquees and gazebos, offering tantalising foodie nibbles from the best of Welsh produce to international street food. Sit and listen to live music from the bandstand or stroll around the green where you’ll also discover local crafts – or learn from top local chefs, as they show how to turn regional food into fabulous signature dishes! Now in its forth year this family event promises to be bigger and better.
Festival No 6 at Portmeiron, 7-10 September
Forget any preconceptions you had about festival food, at No.6 the food and drink offerings are as exciting and diverse as the music, arts and culture. You can experience a bespoke banquet in the wonderful Portmeirion hotel from a Michelin starred chef, dine in the stunning Castell dining room, or explore the many independent festival food stalls, and the Welsh produce market, all chosen with care. The amazing No 6 bespoke dining experience, returns for the fourth year running with an incredible line-up of Michelin-starred and innovative chefs including Aiden Byrne and Paul Ainsworth.
Holker Chilli Festival, 9-10 September
Do you know your Jalapeños from your Scotch Bonnets?  Whether you’re a fiery food fanatic or a chilli newbie, the new trend for specialist chilli events across the country gives everyone the chance to experience the delights of the Capsicum. Now in its 4th year, the Holker Chilli Festival in Cark-in-Cartmel, Cumbria is an entertaining combination of chilli plants and produce, speciality food and good old family fun.  Staged in the bustling Holker Courtyard, this lively event is growing fast with over 4,000 visitors last year.
