One of the most highly anticipated summertime agricultural events in the North West region, The Royal Cheshire County Show 2016 will once again be returning to Tabley for another fantastic outing – and we’re going to be there!
Organised by The Cheshire Agricultural Society each year, this Cheshire show has now been held annually for 178 years. But 2016 promises to be extra special with the long-running show being bestowed with an official ‘Royal’ status by the Cabinet Office, highlighting both the pedigree of the event and its standing in the eyes of those who attend each year.
Set in the spectacular 300-acre showground in Tabley, near Knutsford, the show attracts upwards of 80,000 visitors and traders to what always promises to be a fun-filled and memorable two days. Rooted in agriculture and farming, the 2016 sees the return of the competition classes for cattle, sheep, pigs and dairy goats – a prestigious award for exhibitors to win – as well as countless other classes covering everything from light and heavy horses, show jumping, livestock rare breeds and poultry, to pygmy goats, pigeons, cavies and a dog show. (There is still a chance to enter some categories, visit royalcheshireshow.org for closing dates.)
Other highlights of the two-day event include music and dance performances at the Village Green; art, craft and floral displays in the Women’s Institute marquee; the vibrant and diverse Cheshire Farmers Market; back by popular demand, the Sky Swing offering elevated 360° views over the showground; a vintage farm machinery display; and for foodies there’s the Roberts Bakery Food Halls. Come and find us in the Food Hall – we’d love to meet you and find out what you think of the new issue.
Celebrating all that is great about the countryside and with lots to see and do, the show is a great day out for young and old alike as it brings together aspects of farming and rural life with entertainment, food and drink all set in a beautiful Cheshire countryside location.
The Royal Cheshire County Show takes place on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 June. Discounts are available for early bird tickets so to pick up yours or for further information on the show, visit www.royalcheshireshow.org
In addition to The Royal Cheshire County Show, we’ll also be at the Foodies Festival which is taking place at Tatton Park on 15-17 July – keep an eye out on our website for further details about the show and where we’ll be.
